Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area
The popular Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA) preserves a series of sites between Atlanta and Lake Sidney Lanier along the Chattahoochee River. This 48 Km stretch of the river provides opportunities for public recreation. The CRNRA was established on August 15, 1978. Cochran Shoals is the largest and most popular unit of the park featuring a 3-mile fitness trail which is suitable for jogging/walking/biking etc. The park’s headquarters and visitor center are situated in Island Fort unit of the park.

The Brasstown Bald is widely known as the highest point in Georgia. It is located atop Georgia’s highest mountain standing at 4,784 feet above the sea level. It is surrounded by the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests and you can experience stunning views from its observation deck. There is also a unique museum featuring interactive cultural and natural exhibits. You can reach the summit either by the shuttle service or by hiking the half-mile summit trail.

The Kolomoki Mounds State Park is the oldest and largest Woodland Indian site in the southern United States. It was occupied by Native Americans from 350 to 750 A.D. The park’s museum is built in an unusual setting around an excavated mound which provides you an opportunity to learn who these native people were and how they used to live.
